Warwick planning roundup: A46, 'bodged' refurb and petrol plans
By James Smith 21st Feb 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
A46 Update
Progress continues on the A46 Stoneleigh junction, Warwickshire County Council has confirmed.
An update has been shared by the local authority as works to connect the 'bridge to nowhere' resumed this year.
The update said: "Recent weeks have seen the A46 site prepare for the installation of the new wingwalls."
'Bodged' Pool Project
Council officers "underestimated the technical knowledge, support and oversight" needed in the near £1 million refurbishment of the public paddling pools in Warwick and Leamington Spa.
The two pools were due to reopen to the public last May but were hit with delays until the Victoria Park site reopened for just a few days in July.
Warwick District Council was forced to shut it due to "significant issues" and the reopening of the St Nicholas Park pool was also cancelled.
Petrol Planning Progress
More updates have been made to proposed changes to a Hatton petrol station.
Shell UK was last year given planning permission to demolish and rebuild the current sales building at its Birmingham Road site, and to build a new EV charging "hub".
The company has already modified these plans to move the sales building away from the nearby canal.
