More updates have been made to proposed changes to a Hatton petrol station.

Shell UK was last year given planning permission to demolish and rebuild the current sales building at its Birmingham Road site, and to build a new EV charging "hub".

The company has already modified these plans to move the sales building away from the nearby canal.

Shell has since submitted a fresh application to Warwick District Council to ask for more design changes - which has now been updated further following objections from local councillors.

If approved, the updates would see the designs for the kiosk changed again, and an extra two EV charging spaces included.

"A further design review has been undertaken, and it has been decided to amend the EVC provision and increase it from four EVC bays to six bays to better meet the changing needs of motorists," the plans said.

"The provision of EVC is supported by national and local policy including through the provision of permitted development rights for installation of EVC in existing parking spaces."

Shell - which claims there are 30,000 fewer petrol stations nationwide compared to 60 years ago - said the project reflects the rising demand from customers.

But Budbrooke Parish Council has objected to the designs.

The council said: "Concern has been raised by the Budbrooke Parish Council regarding to location of the area for HGVs.

"Currently, HGVs services are provided on the canal side of the property giving space for HGVs awaiting other HGVs already using services and not impacting on traffic filing into the filling station.

"The proposed plan for HGVs is on the Birmingham Road side with little, if any space for any waiting HGV.

"This is likely to block the entrance to the site as well as cause a build up of vehicles on the Birmingham Road awaiting the HGVs clearing room for cars to enter the site.

"It is suggested that the provision for HGVs be returned to the canal side to avoid problems from waiting HGVs."
