Warwick planning roundup: Police spaces, new junction and WHSmith

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
WHSmith's Facelift
Planning permission to make changes to Warwick's WHSmith has been granted.
Plans for a new sign, which will see the previous WHSmith sign change to the TGJones logo at the Market Street shop, have now been approved by Warwick District Council (WDC).
The scheme comes as WHSmith has sold its high street stores in a £76 million deal with Modella Capital - the firm which owns Hobbycraft.
Police Parking
Warwickshire Police has been granted planning permission for 260 extra parking spaces and a series of works at its headquarters – but only after a bashing from councillors.
Warwick District Council's planning committee unanimously supported the force's revamp which will add the extra parking and see extra lighting, security and connecting paths installed.
It will also see a new one-way system introduced with the northern access route becoming exit only, a bone of contention for objectors but an element that did not require planning permission.
New Junction Plans
New designs have been put forward for a new junction at a housing estate currently under construction near Warwick and Leamington.
Work is well underway on the 900 homes, primary school and park and ride at The Asps, with Warwickshire County Council (WCC) recently warning locals of delays due to roadworks in the area.
Progress has been made on the major new junction at Banbury Road and Myton Road, but a planning application submitted to Warwick District Council (WDC) has revealed the designs for the link have been updated.
