Plans for Warwick's WHSmith sign change gets green light

Planning permission to make changes to Warwick's WHSmith has been granted.
Plans for a new sign, which will see the previous WHSmith sign change to the TGJones logo at the Market Street shop, have now been approved by Warwick District Council (WDC).
The scheme comes as WHSmith has sold its high street stores in a £76 million deal with Modella Capital - the firm which owns Hobbycraft.
The deal will include all 480 stores nationwide, including Warwick's WHSmith at Market Street.
WHSmith said the sale will mean it can focus on the travel arm of the business.
The application for the new signs to WDC said the new designs are "like for like replacements".

The planning documents stated: "WDC Conservation have been consulted and raise no objection to the proposals.
"Due to the nature of the signage, it is not considered to have any adverse impact on amenity."
In granting permission for the sign to be changed, WDC concluded: "The proposal is considered to be acceptable in terms of amenity and public safety.
"Therefore it is recommended that Advertisement Consent is granted."
