Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Warwick School

Plans for a new astroturf pitch and lighting at Warwick School have been signed off by council planners.

The Myton Road school has been granted planning permission to demolish an existing pavilion and replace a former sports field with the modern facilities for hockey.

The application - first submitted in 2024 - said: "The Myton Road site has extensive and high-quality sport provisions; however, with the large number of students on-site following the move of Kings High to the site, there is increasing pressure on these facilities."

Major Estate Movement

Plans for up to 500 new homes to the south of Warwick and Leamington Spa have been handed a boost by council planners.

HarperCrewe first revealed the plans for Mallory Road in Bishop's Tachbrook in April.

The developer asked Warwick District Council whether it needed to conduct a major environmental study - an Environmental Impact Assessment - before it submitted a full planning application for the estate.

The local authority's planning team has this week said the assessment is not needed.

KFC

The KFC at Leamington Shopping Park has applied for permission to stay open until the early hours of the morning.

The drive thru eatery opened alongside Five Guys last year after months of work on site at the former Frankie and Benny's at Tachbrook Park Drive.

Currently KFC opens from 11am to 10pm seven days a week, with the drive thru open for an extra hour each day.
