Warwick planning roundup: 5G mast, padel plans and Aldi's entrance
By James Smith 7th Feb 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Padel Plans
Plans to build three new padel courts at a local hotel look set to be approved.
Planning officers at Warwick District Council (WDC) have recommended planning permission be granted for the new facilities at The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club in Leek Wootton.
If approved, the courts would be built on a patch of grass next to the hotel with new lights and a fabric canopy.
Aldi Entrance
Controversial plans to create a new entrance for an Aldi supermarket are set to go before councillors again next week.
Warwick District Council's (WDC) planning committee last month deferred a decision on the plans for the Tachbrook Park Drive Queensway, saying more information was needed from highways officers.
A number of objections had been submitted, including from Warwick Town Council and from Cllr Becky Davidson who said residents were being "continuously lied to by developers, and let down by highways and planning".
5G Mast
Prior approval has been given for a 30 metre-high 5G mast on the edge of Warwick.
Icon Tower Infrastructure Limited has been given the green light for the structure on land next to Barford Road, near the Longbridge roundabout.
The application to Warwick District Council showed multiple sites were considered, with this deemed the most suitable.
