Councillors to decide on new padel courts for hotel
By James Smith 4th Feb 2026
Plans to build three new padel courts at a local hotel look set to be approved.
Planning officers at Warwick District Council (WDC) have recommended planning permission be granted for the new facilities at The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club in Leek Wootton.
If approved, the courts would be built on a patch of grass next to the hotel with new lights and a fabric canopy.
The application has been met with eight objections, raising concerns about noise, light and the impact on local wildlife.
Six notices of support have been submitted saying the courts will support the local demand for the sport and benefit the local community.
The application will be considered by WDC's planning committee next week.
A report due to be discussed by councillors said: "It is considered that the development would constitute appropriate development in the green belt.
"The proposal is also considered to create no additional harm to the amenity of neighbouring uses.
"The proposals do not give rise to parking or highway safety concerns.
"The development is also considered to adequately address impact on trees and drainage."
Planners have recommended a 'section 106' legal agreement be included in the approval, forcing the hotel to provide a 10 per cent biodiversity net gain when it builds the courts.
