Warwick town centre was abuzz this weekend, as the historic Warwick Mop Fair returned.
Locals took to the town to enjoy fairground attractions, rides, and games in Market Place and surrounding streets, with the fun kicking off on Friday, 16 October, from 5pm.
Attendees also enjoyed a range of food stalls with sweet and savoury items available.
The Mop first began when King Edward III granted a legal charter for it to be held in the town centre, at a time when the stone version of the castle was being built and before Lord Leycester was even born.
Many significant towns in the area have similar charters, including Stratford-upon-Avon, Southam, Banbury, Tewkesbury, Alcester, Evesham, Abingdon, and so on.

Each year, these towns have fairground attractions in their town centres and surrounding streets.

Warwick Mop is held every year on the Friday and Saturday following the 12th day of October, with the 'Runaway Mop' held the following Friday and Saturday.

This year, Warwick Mop will run from 16 to 23 October from 5pm to 10.30pm daily, with the Runaway Mop beginning on 17 October and running until 24 October from 12noon to 10.30pm.

Several road and car park closures will remain in place throughout the week for Warwick Mop and the Runaway Mop.
