With the historic Warwick Mop and Runaway Mop returning to the town this weekend, here are the road closures locals should be aware of before planning their journey.

Warwick is set to welcome fairground attractions with plenty of rides to enjoy across the town centre and surrounding streets with the fun kicking off on Friday 16 October from 5pm.

The event is held every year on the Friday and Saturday following the 12th day of October, with the 'Runaway Mop' held the following Friday and Saturday.

The 12th is the date for calculating when many of the local mop fairs happen. It is believed to be linked to the date the harvesting was completed, in olden days.

Warwick Mop will run from 16 to 23 October from 5pm to 10.30pm daily, with the Runaway Mop beginning on 17 October and running until 24 October from 12noon to 10.30pm.

Several road closures and car park closures will be in place during the events.

Hampton Road car park will be closed to all vehicles, including camper vans, from 7am on Sunday 11 October to 12pm on Sunday 25 October 2026.

Permit holders will be able to park in near by Bread and Meat Close car park and also Vittle Close car park.

New Street car park will also be closed from 4.45pm on Thursday 15 October to 11.59am on Sunday 18 October, then again from 4.45pm on Thursday 22 October to 11.59am on Sunday 25 October for the Runaway Mop.

Alternative parking can be found at the nearby West Rock car park.

• Market Street – except for egress from the bus station and car park
• New Bridge
• New Street
• Old Square
• Puckering's Lane – except for egress to the bus station and car park
• Swan Street
• The Holloway
