A local boxer is looking to make it nine unbeaten bouts in a row, and in front of a home crowd next month.

Having beaten Simas Vilosinas at the start of March, super featherweight Danny Quartermaine will lace up his gloves again on May 6 to fight at Resorts World Arena, Birmingham, looking to maintain his undefeated record as a pro fighter.

The event is a Boxxer and Sky Sports event, and is going to be on broadcasted live on Sky Sports.

Undefeated light-heavyweight Joshua Buatsi will headline the night as he faces undefeated Pawel Stepien, meanwhile Birmingham lad Tyler Denny - the reigning English middleweight champion - also features on the undercard.

Organisers said: "One of the biggest nights of boxing in Birmingham history takes place Saturday, May 6 at the Resorts World Arena when Boxxer makes its first visit to the UK's second city for an event airing live on Sky Sports."

Warwickshire's Quartermaine, who trains at Cleary's Boxing Gym, has recently caught the eye of pundits who have tipped him to go on to fight for a British title.

Former editor of Boxing News Mike Lockley wrote after the fight that 25-year-old Danny is capable of again making Leamington Spa "a byword for boxing".

"Danny is a rare talent and needs a title fight and 10 rounds. He has the ability to take a belt at feather, junior-light or lightweight," he said.

"Guided correctly, Quartermaine will feature in the British title mix."

Danny recently took time out of his training schedule to visit youngsters at Warwick Hospital and to help raise funds for the new children's ward.

He said he is really looking forward to the event, and for tickets you can contact him.
