Local boxer Danny Quartermaine won his sixth straight professional fight last weekend, against Cruz Perez from Nicaragua.

Perez, 24, has a reputation as a strong puncher, with his nickname the Pitbull, and had only lost one fight before Sunday's (October 30) bout at The Hanger in Wolverhampton.

Quartermaine, who trains at Cleary's Boxing Gym, dominated the fight throughout and went the full six rounds before coming out on top.

The Cubbington boxer turned professional in 2019 having fought 89 times at amateur level, but he was forced to wait 18 months between his first and second pro bouts due to the pandemic.

The 25-year-old was then dealt a further blow when his fight on September 9 2022 was cancelled at a day's notice following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Leamington fighter had been due to fight on September 9, in Birmingham only for the show to be cancelled, at a day's notice, as a mark of respect, after the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
