Local-lad Joe Bourne was named the Midlands Champion on Friday (October 9) after overcoming Chadrack Kiyama of Acocks Green.

The 25-year-old super heavyweight won the bout in Tamworth in a third round stoppage.

Joe, of Clearys Boxing Gym, has also represented team GB for powerlifting and has competed in Japan, taking the silver medal at the World Junior Championships.

He also represented Warwickshire in rugby.

The news comes just days after fellow Clearys boxer Reni Bulyka also became Midlands Champion last week.
