When Tasca Dali moved across Warwick to Market Square, owner Alex Clayton said it was "business as usual".

And that has proved to be the case as the popular independent eatery has continued to bring in customers both old and new.

The Spanish restaurant has done a fantastic job of converting the former home of Totally Thai into a comfortable and intimate dining setting; offering a lovely spot for couples of and for larger groups to enjoy a fantastic evening of food.

Unlike most restaurants Tasca Dali does not offer a menu as such, with diners given five courses of a set menu (at a cost of just £45pp).

The kitchen uses the freshest ingredients, and even brings in a number of items from Spain meaning each dish is as authentic as possible.

And for those with dietary requirements, the team are more than happy to substitute dishes to make sure all needs are catered for.

On our visit earlier this month we were treated to a tapas board to start, complete with Iberian cheeses and hams, fantastically fresh bread, olives and a number of homemade dips.

Encouraged to eat with our fingers by our attentive waitress, it was a lovely start to the meal and very much set the Spanish tone for the rest of the night.

This was washed down with a bottle of the rather drinkable house red.

Our second course was a warming bowl of vegetable soup. The generous portion (much bigger than expected for a tasting menu) had a base of butternut squash and was topped with parsley and a helping of smoked paprika which gave the soup a delightful kick.

For the fish course we were served a wonderfully flakey piece of mackerel, served on a smooth bed of pea puree and a side of honey and mustard roasted vegetables.

As with each of the courses our waitress spent a few minutes with us talking through the dish before, explaining how it was cooked and the ingredients sourced.

After each serving she asked us for feedback on what we had eaten, and which course was our favourite. This personal touch really added to the experience. Being able to talk to someone so knowledgeable about the food, and also so welcoming, elevated the night from just a 'meal out'.

After the mackerel we were given a wonderfully sticky rack of pork ribs - again with encouragement to down our cutlery! This came with a sweet bed of carrot puree, as well as saffron and sliced pickled onions. The mix of sweet with a bit of tartness was delightful.

And to finish things off we were given a slice of traditional Spanish cheesecake with flaked parmesan (which worked much better than I anticipated) and fantastically rich cream enriched with Baileys. A lovely sweet end to what had been a lovely meal.

In all honesty, before the meal I was slightly apprehensive at the thought of arriving without knowing what we would be eating - unable to choose between a selection of options.

But my fears proved to be misplaced. Over nearly three hours of dining we enjoyed a wonderful array of freshly cooked, simple food which definitely left us wanting to come back for more.

We just need to wait until the next menu comes in and we will be back.
