The owner of a Spanish restaurant in Warwick has said it is "business as usual" following a move to new premises.

Tasca Dali has left its home of 11 years on High Street to take over the former Totally Thai unit in Market Place.

After two months of renovations at the restaurant, Tasca Dali opened in its new location for the first time on July 5, and has already received a lot of support from customers and locals.

Explaining the decision to move, business owner Alex Clayton told Nub News: "The landlord was thinking of selling the building so that put us under pressure for around a year while he was looking for a buyer.

"We have been a business in Warwick since the end of 2013 so we didn't want to leave, and when the premises came up in the main square, it was the right move."

He added: "We wanted to stay in Warwick, that is where the business was formed, that is where people know us.

"We are a restaurant first and a business second. It is about the people who have dined with us; we have had marriage proposals, birthdays, celebrations.

"If you do restaurants properly it can really make a mark in peoples' lives. It is personal to us and to our customers, so that's why we wanted to stay in Warwick."

Boasting multiple Restaurant Guru awards, and previously named Spanish Restaurant of the Year in the Birmingham Restaurant Awards, Tasca Dali does not have a menu as such, preparing whatever is fresh and in season on a daily basis.

Food is cooked in a traditionally Spanish style, with ingredients including cheeses, hams, chorizos and olive oils all sourced from Spain.

For Alex, this attention to detail and refusal to compromise on quality has been the secret to the restaurant's longevity.

"Success has come down to offering something completely unique, offering quality ingredients and remembering that we are a restaurant first and a business second," he explained.

"We never compromise on the quality of our ingredients, we don't cut corners.

"People appreciate that and they appreciate the value of being able to get a five-course tasting menu for £45.

"We love what we do, we don't cut corners and we are there for the people who come to us and want to give them a real experience."

And while the business has had to say goodbye to the place it has called home for over a decade, Alex said Tasca Dali has hit the ground running in Market Square, saying "things felt back to normal after the first day".

He explained: "It is exciting!

"We are only a few hundred metres down the road, people still know where we are.

"The biggest worry was people would react against the change and what would people think of the new place, and could we maintain the same high level of everything.

"But we are doing exactly what we have always done, just with a bit more space!

"And people love it, so it has been a change for the better."
