Nearly 100 objections have been submitted to detailed plans for three new industrial units on the edge of Warwick.

Warwick 1 Unit Trust has submitted a 'reserved matters' application for the development off Stratford Road.

Warwick District Council's planning committee signed off on the outline plans for the land in 2023, despite the objections of locals who said the development was too high.

The plans - first put forward by Midlands Land Portfolio Limited - are for storage, distribution and industrial use of 8.8 hectares of land.

But the detailed designs included in this latest submission to the local authority have drawn more opposition from residents.

Concerns include the height of the buildings, the loss of green space and the impact on local roads.

Objecting, Neil Forrest wrote: "This is an area of countryside which should remain as countryside.

"Industrial sites are all over Warwick and should be kept to existing brownfield sites."

David Cooling wrote: "Gridlocking the main tourist and emergency services route into Warwick cannot be good for this historic town.

"If it goes ahead as submitted, this development will blight the lives of those living at Earls Meadow, The Peacocks, Chase Meadow, Stratford Road, the wider Warwick community, and affect the emergency services and tourist industry that is so important to this wonderful historic town - there should be no way the first thing tourists see is a huge warehouse on the main route in, while stuck in a traffic jam."

Meanwhile Jean Barlow simply wrote: "We have enough industrial buildings leave some greenery."

The latest application to the council includes 29,461 sq.m of employment land as well as 296 car parking spaces and 43 HGV spaces.

When the outline plans were approved in 2023, councillors removed a condition on the height of the buildings, with the view the council could apply more restrictions at the reserved matters stage if necessary.

A separate application is expected for the second phase of the development.

The land is allocated in the local plan for employment use.
