A fine dining restaurant in Warwick has been featured in the Michelin guide less than a year after opening its doors for the first time.

Hem welcomed customers for the first time in February 2024, in the former home of long established local eatery Tailors, where new owner Sebastian Hargreaves had worked as front of house manager.

Dan Cavell, one of the previous owners of Tailors, has come on board as the chef at the new restaurant and says the two are delighted to have been featured in the guide after such a short period of time.

"Seb the owner and Maitre'd of Hem and myself as the chef are absolutely thrilled to be included in this years Michelin guide book," he told Nub News. 

"After being open for just under a year and to become a new entry into this illustrious guide is testament to the commitment from all of the team at HEM to provide the highest level of hospitality for all of our guests. 

"We aim to keep pushing on after this fantastic news and keep our standards high so that that we can hopefully gain more accolades in the future."

The restaurant has two menus - one meat and one vegetarian - and slowly replaces dishes on a gradual basis as the year goes on.

And with space for just 18 covers, the restaurant provides a comfortable, intimate setting.

On the restaurant, the Michelin guide says: "In the market square of this historic town, you'll find a lovely little restaurant.

"Named Hem in reference to previous incarnation 'Tailors' – which before that was an actual tailor – it's a simple and unpretentious place, where long-standing friends Dan and Seb run the show with a smile. 

"Dan is the chef of the pair, cooking hearty and satisfying dishes that are classic in their origins but executed with refinement and a playful touch – such as venison haunch with pear, walnut ketchup and bacon jam. 

"Go for one of the carefully curated wine flights."
