The Rotary Club of Warwick welcomed John Sandi from the Sewa Road school in Bo, Sierra Leone last week, accompanied by Richard Hall from One World Link.

John wanted to thank the Rotarians who last year sent £6,500 to improve the toilets at his school.

Sewa Road school had 900 children and 35 staff sharing just three cubicles.

Warwick Rotary Club funded the construction of two blocks of four toilets, and refurbishment of the existing three.

This has made a massive improvement and enabled full participation of the girls.

John brought along letters of thanks from pupils and the school board.

One World Link established a partnership between Warwick and Leamington over 40 years ago.

Professionals and teachers have visited each other's towns since 1981 to establish cultural understanding and friendship, initially by linking the schools. John brought four teachers with him who were visiting local schools.

Jenny Bailey - a former Leamington teacher who has visited Bo on three occasions - also came to renew her friendship.

Her husband Rotarian Alan Bailey has encouraged the club over the years to fund a variety of proposals in Bo, helping to build a hospital, providing solar power, and aid during Ebola.

Another Rotarian Bill Jaspal had also arranged to send over seven surplus computers from his training business which were installed in the One World office in Bo last September.
