Warwick planning roundup: Retirement home, bin collection firm and new houses

Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.
Retirement Home Adverts
A retirement village near Warwick has lost its battle to put up a number of advertising hoardings after an appeal case was dismissed by a planning inspector.
Last July Warwick District Council refused permission for Austin Heath Retirement Village to install five signs and three flag poles to help advertise the new development, saying the adverts would adversely affect the appearance of the local area.
Phase three of the Gallagher Way site, which has 167 homes, including village centre apartments, assisted living, panorama and penthouses, was officially opened by acclaimed broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald in June 2022.

Farm Buildings to Family Homes
Plans to build five detached homes at a farm on Harbury Lane have been approved by the district council.
The scheme will see two 1940's buildings currently used for storage and as workshops demolished in order to build the cul-de-sac at Woodside Farm.
First submitted in August 2021 by Signature Quality Refurbished Homes Ltd, the plans include a mixture of three and four bed houses.

Driver Welfare Facilities
The company behind Warwick's new three-weekly bin collections has been granted planning permission to improve its welfare facilities for drivers by Warwick District Council.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council and WDC announced in October that Biffa Waste Services would run the new 123+ waste collections which began on August 1 this year.
Though the service got off to a bumpy start, it is said to be reducing the amount of rubbish being sent to landfill.
