Warwick planning roundup: gym's plans, hotel's renovation and village hall

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Gym's Future?
A Warwick gym which claimed it was 'misadvised' in opening without planning permission has pulled its retrospective application.
Foundry Gym on Millers Road had been forced to submit a planning application after finding out it did not have planning permission to open.
The plans have proved divisive with locals, with over 200 comments having been sent to Warwick District Council.
Hotel's Renovation
The Warwick Arms Hotel, located in the heart of Warwick, will temporarily close its doors from Sunday 21 September to begin a significant refurbishment project.
Following its acquisition by the award-winning Coaching Inn Group in July 2025, the group is investing over £1 million to transform the historic property.
The hotel will reopen on Friday 14 November and is taking bookings for stays and dining now.
Village Hall Backed
A developer has lost its second bid to try and repurpose a community hall in Sherbourne.
Sherbourne Park Estate has seen another planning application refused to turn Sherbourne Village Hall into offices.
A previous application was refused by Warwick District Council in 2023, and at this week’s planning committee meeting councillors blocked another scheme.
