Warwick planning roundup: Flats approved, industrial units and new signs

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Flats Approved
Councillors have granted planning permission to demolish a second hand car shop in Warwick to make way for five new flats.
Members at Warwick District Council's planning committee unanimously voted through the application last night (September 9), meaning the building on the corner of Cross Street and Priory Road can now be flattened.
Corstorphine and Wright has been given the green light to built a two and three-storey block of apartments in its place.
Industrial Units
The developer behind a newly approved scheme to create small industrial units between Warwick and Leamington will need to purchase ‘off site credits’ to try and reach a net gain in biodiversity, with councillors eager these are found nearby.
Councillors this week approved the scheme for Fusiliers Way which will see 16 new industrial units built in five different blocks.
Warwickshire Property Development Ltd was given approval for the “small starter” units, but has been asked by Warwick District Council’s planning committee to invest in boosting biodiversity as close to the project as possible.
WHSmith Signs
New signs have been installed at Warwick's former WHSmith as the national chain is rebranded.
The new 'TGJones' logos have now been installed at Market Street after planning permission for the works was signed off by Warwick District Council earlier this year.
The change comes as WHSmith has sold its high street stores in a £76 million deal with Modella Capital - the firm which owns Hobbycraft.
