Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.

Canalside Pub to be Demolished

Two town councils have both objected to plans to demolish a canalside pub and replace it with a five-storey block of flats.

The 42-bed apartment block is planed by Cresco Investors Limited.

But Warwick Town Council and Leamington Spa Town Council have both objected to the plans.

Apartments Refused

Plans to convert a town centre office into flats have been refused by the district council due to the impact on a Grade II listed building.

Cobalt Developments had applied to create two, one-bed flats above The Iron Works and Charlie Nails Salon at Market Place.

The Stratford-based developers also wanted to build a three-storey extension on the back of the listed building to house a new staircase.

But Warwick District Council planners refused the application stating that it would harm the character of the site.

New Pharmacy Plans

A new pharmacy in Warwick could include a 24-hour prescription collection machine if plans are approved.

Pharmacy group Avicenna is set to take over the empty unit at the new Priory Medical Centre.

Victorian School to Houses

A former language school in Sherbourne which dates back to the 19th century could be turned into a house with at least nine bedrooms.

Sherbourne Priors, on Watery Lane, was first used as a training centre from 1978 and then latterly a English language school.

The centre, which had five classrooms and a games room, accepted children aged seven to 13 and housed them in dormitories.

School's Artwork

An artwork that will celebrate the discovery of a Roman barn could be installed at a Warwick school.

The 30ft barn was unearthed in February 2018 during the building of King's High School.

To commemorate the discovery the school has commissioned artist Liz Middleton to turn a student's poem into a permanent four metre high display on the wall of the school's main reception building.
