Warwick planning roundup: Drive thru, McDonald's and community centre

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Drive Thru
Plans to turn an empty canalside pub into a coffee drive thru unit have been pulled, weeks after planning permission was granted for the same building to be turned into flats.
Gentian Leamington Spa Ltd had put forward a fresh scheme to convert the former Waterside pub into a takeaway coffee shop, and mothball the existing first floor apartment.
The application was the latest in a long-running saga to repurpose the building which has been closed for a number of years.
McDonald's Decision
Neighbours will next week find out whether a Warwick McDonald’s will be given permission to stay open 24/7.
Dawood Ibtehsam has applied to keep the Emscote Road eatery open throughout the week, with current restrictions meaning he is only able to trade from 6am to 11pm currently.
A number of residents have already objected to the application, which is set to go before Warwick District Council’s (WDC) planning committee meeting next week.
A report to be discussed by councillors has recommended the scheme be given the green light.
Community Centre
A 17-year wait for a new community centre in Warwick looks set to come to an end, with councillors advised to approve planning permission for the development at Priory Pools Park next week.
A new charity has been set up to back the bid for the new Priory Pools Community Centre, with a planning application for the build due to be discussed at next week's Warwick District Council (WDC) planning committee meeting.
The business case for the new £2 million centre has already been supported by the local authority.
