Warwick planning roundup: Country park, new school and 10km pipeline
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
10km Pipeline
Plans to build a 10km long pipeline in south Warwickshire have been handed a boost by district planners.
Severn Trent Water has been told it does not need to complete an 'environmental impact assessment' for the major project, with Warwick District Council (WDC) saying the scheme would only cause "temporary" disruption to the local area.
Plans show the water company wants to build the major pipeline from near Baddesley Clinton to its Hatton treatment works to help with a "taste and odour" problem identified in some local drinking water.
Country Park Progress
A "significant step" in the creation of the district's new country park has been made as the council announces a new designer and planning consultant for the project.
Plincke Landscape Ltd has been appointed to help with the "crucial stage of the development process" for Tachbrook Country Park, working alongside Warwick District Council's project team to prepare detailed plans.
The council signed off on plans for the new 40-hectare public space in November 2022, following lengthy delays to the project.
House to School?
A local MP has backed plans to convert a village house into a "remarkable" new school.
Northleigh House School Ltd has applied for planning permission to convert Oldmill House, off Five Ways Road, into a facility for children who struggle in mainstream education.
The application to Warwick District Council said the Shrewley home would become a school for 35 pupils.
