Council appoints designer and landscape architect for delayed Tachbrook Country Park
A "significant step" in the creation of the district's new country park has been made as the council announces a new designer and planning consultant for the project.
Plincke Landscape Ltd has been appointed to help with the "crucial stage of the development process" for Tachbrook Country Park, working alongside Warwick District Council's project team to prepare detailed plans.
The council signed off on plans for the new 40-hectare public space in November 2022, following lengthy delays to the project.
However, much of the area still remains under private ownership while the process of land transfer continues, and no completion date for the project is in sight.
The council confirmed earlier this year an undisclosed amount of land had been transferred from developers AC Lloyd to the authority.
It also said the rest of the land is expected to be handed over in early 2025.
Portfolio holder for neighbourhood, Cllr Will Roberts added: "The council remains committed to creating a vibrant, accessible park that will serve as a valuable asset to the local community for generations to come.
"Having worked with Plincke previously, we are confident that we now have the right team in place to turn our long-awaited vision into a reality."
Stretching between Bishop's Tachbrook, Whitnash, Leamington Spa and Warwick, Tachbrook Country Park will become one of the largest green spaces in the district connecting the new housing developments to Oakley School and other major public amenities planned for the area.
Orchards, two allotment areas, a community growing area, a café, and children's play areas are all set to be included in the plans.
This as well as an 'ecological wetland habitat' with viewing platform, a wildflower meadow, and a children's play trail.
Colin Burden, managing director Plincke Ltd commented: "Plincke are delighted to have been selected to take this project forward.
"The country park is an incredible opportunity to create nearly 50 hectares of new public green space with a range of facilities including play areas, community allotments, and attractive walking and cycling routes.
"Plincke has a long tradition of successful park projects within the district, and we are now looking forward to working with the council and the many stakeholders involved over the coming months.
"Our focus will be ensuring that the design is rooted in its location and meets the needs of the growing community for access to safe, clean, and green outdoor open space."
