Warwick planning roundup: care home appeal, school building and shop's makeover

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Care Home Saga
A developer has started an appeal in a bid to force through plans for a controversial new care home in Hatton.
Belmont Healthcare was last year refused planning permission for the 75-bed facility on Birmingham Road after councillors voted against a report from planners that said the scheme should go ahead.
The company had already seen an application for the care home in the green belt refused by Warwick District Council in 2022, but said the fresh scheme "significantly improved" the plans.
School Building
A former school building in Warwick will no longer be demolished, but instead will be converted into a new home.
Council planners granted permission for the former Kings High School building on Chapel Street to be demolished in 2020, as part of a major scheme to redevelop the former sites across town.
Much of the works have commenced, but now Tonguestone Limited has been granted permission to alter one of the plans.
Shop's Makeover
A Warwick Premier shop has been given the green light to upgrade its 'dated' shopfront by council planners.
Warwick District Council has granted planning permission for the works at Shakespeare Stores on Shakespeare Avenue.
Plans state the current shopfront will be replaced, with new shutters, windows and automatic doors installed.
