Former Warwick school building saved from demolition but will still be turned into homes

A former school building in Warwick will no longer be demolished, but instead will be converted into a new home.
Council planners granted permission for the former Kings High School building on Chapel Street to be demolished in 2020, as part of a major scheme to redevelop the former sites across town.
Much of the works have commenced, but now Tonguestone Limited has been granted permission to alter one of the plans.
An application signed off by Warwick District Council states the building on Chapel Street was due to be knocked down to make way for two new houses.
However, the new scheme will see the original building retained, but converted into two new homes.
"The net amount of development remains as approved and I am therefore satisfied that the development remains in accordance with the approved principle," a council report said.
It continued: "Whilst the previous scheme sought to demolish the building and replace [it] with two new dwellings, this proposal would retain the existing building with its renovation to create two dwellings.
"The plans submitted demonstrate that the front elevation will be re-faced with render to create a more appropriate frontage in relation to the existing street scene. "
