Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.

Homes Under The Spotlight

Town councillors have objected to fresh plans to build a new housing estate next to the A46 in Warwick, just months after the housing developer was refused permission for a similar scheme.

In March, Warwick District Council's (WDC) planning committee refused planning permission for a 69-house development off Goggbridge Lane, saying the occupiers would have to keep windows closed to shut out unacceptable levels of noise.

And members at Warwick Town Council remained unconvinced and have stuck by an objection to the first application.

Luxury Care Home

A new luxury care home with 66 fully-furnished ensuite rooms plus five deluxe care suites is set to open in Warwick this summer.

Expected to be completed in June 2024, Oakley Grange care home will offer first-class assisted living in "stylishly tranquil surroundings".

The new care home, which will be the latest facility operated by Cinnamon Care Collection, will also include a community dedicated to the care of people living with dementia.

Punch Bowl Plans

Local residents have been quick to object to fresh plans to turn a closed Warwick pub into a house.

A fresh application to turn The Punch Bowl into a home was put forward to Warwick District Council earlier this month, but so far over 100 objections have been received.

Owner Secret Properties Ltd has already seen a previous application to repurpose the 18th century building refused, and also also failed to let out the venue.

Stoneleigh Saga

The £38 million works at Stoneleigh Island will not be finished until "later in the year" Warwickshire County Council (WCC) has confirmed.

The major project to build a new bridge and roundabout at the A46 junction was due to be completed in summer 2022, but has been slowed by "various issues" including supply problems.

Last September Nub News reported the project had been given a revised completion date of "winter 2023/24" as a solution to the recent supply issue was found.

However, the local authority has now said this project will not be finished so soon.
