Warwick planning roundup: 179 new homes, shelving decision and village 'ruined'?
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Shelving Scandal
There was "no compelling evidence" of mould or damp at a grade II listed Warwick pub before the landlords ripped out all the interior to 'fix' the problem.
That is according to a report from Warwick District Council (WDC) as it refused a retrospective planning permission for the works at the Market Place unit.
Some 45 locals objected to the application, saying the shelves at the closed pub should be replaced by landlord Cobalt Developments.
New 179 Homes
Detailed plans for 179 houses to the south of Warwick have been signed off by council planners.
The houses will form the second part of The Asps development, between Europa Way and Banbury Road.
Ultimately the site will see 900 homes, a primary school and park and ride with up to 500 spaces built.
Plans to 'Ruin' Village
A site in Barford looks set to be developed into 34 new homes despite not being allocated for housing in the local plan.
Councillors will next week vote on Kendrick Homes Ltd's planning application for the land south of Westham Lane, which council officers have recommended be given the green light.
The developer described the scheme as a "logical infill" for the village with a mixture of one to five bedroom homes.
