Warwick Castle will close all day next Monday (September 19) as a mark of respect during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

While full details of the service are yet to be announced, the Queen's state funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey at 11.00am.

A post on the castle's social media page said: "Following the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II, we join millions of mourners around the UK and the world in paying tribute, and we are thankful for a life of extraordinary service to this country, the Commonwealth and the wider world.

"To mark the passing of Her Majesty The Queen and to allow our guests and employees to pay their respects, we will close Warwick Castle on Monday 19 September and re-open on Tuesday 20 September.

"Our Knight’s Village and Tower Suites accommodation will close on the evening of Sunday 18 September and will re-open on the evening of Tuesday 20 September."

The castle said it would contact customers with bookings to rearrange.

People across the nation will also observe a one minute's silence on Sunday September 18 at 8pm to reflect on her life.
