A temporary road junction is set to be created to allow 180 new homes to be built near Warwick Technology Park.

Developer William Davies Ltd has already been given outline planning permission for the Gallows Hill estate, but is still waiting for Warwick District Council (WDC) to give a final decision on the reserved matters application.

But as the house builder gets ready to start developing the 14 hectare site, it has now been granted planning permission for a temporary access road for construction traffic.

"Due to the lack of an existing access, the applicants are seeking the provision of a temporary access until the main junction works are completed," a council report said.

"The temporary access can be facilitated without creating any harm to highway safety, visual amenity or ecological matters," it added.

"There are no neighbouring amenity issues with the proposal and the works can be controlled via temporary conditions to ensure that the access is removed upon completion of the primary site access."

William Davies had wanted to start building the temporary road in February, but permission was only granted last month.

Warwick Town Council has already objected to the detailed plans for the 180 homes, saying they would result in a "car dominant street scene".
