Town council objects to detailed plans for 180 new Warwick homes
The town council has objected to detailed plans to build 180 homes in Warwick.
Outline permission was granted in August 2019 for the Gallows Hill development near Warwick Technology Park.
Developer William Davis Ltd said the designs for the 13.77 hectare site "respect the local character and, alongside adjacent developments, continues to move the area towards a sustainable future through an increase in housing choice".
But Warwick Town Council's planning committee has objected to the scheme saying that the gardens for the affordable housing units are "too small".
The application includes 72 affordable homes.
The town council also said the plans would result in a "car dominant street scene".
However, the reserved matters application, submitted to Warwick District Council, says the design will ensure residents on the new estate will enjoy scenic views of the town centre.
"The establishment of a vista through the development, to provide positive new public views to Warwick Castle and the tower of St Mary's Church has also been a key component of the layout," it said.
"By providing a large set back from Gallows Hill, clear views are created through the development towards Guy's Tower, Ceasar's Tower and St Mary's Church."
It also says that the setback will make space for a long park along the north east side of the development which will also include two small areas of trees.
MP for Warwick and Leamington Matt Western recently stated that there were too many homes being built in the area,
