The councillor in charge of Warwickshire's roads has signed off on plans to improve the safety around a Warwick primary school.

Portfolio holder for transport and planning, Cllr Stephen Shaw, has given the go-ahead for parking restrictions on Woodloes Avenue South and Deansway around Woodloes Primary School.

The decision follows a public consultation this spring as Warwickshire County Council aimed to tackle "excessive levels of parking" and "blind spots" around the school.

The plans will see sections with no or limited parking created around Woodloes Primary School.

A council report said: "There are consistently high levels of on street parking along Woodloes Avenue South at most times of the day, which results in blind spots and vehicles travelling around bends and past junctions on the wrong side of the road.

"Proposals have been put forward to regulate where parking can be safely accommodated on the road by means of double yellow lines (No Waiting at Any Time), in order to allow free flow of traffic and improved visibility in an area with high levels of pedestrian and cycle travel."
