A new speed hump is set to be built on a busy Warwick road following a council decision this month.

Portfolio holder for transport and planning, Cllr Stephen Shaw, signed off on the new island on West Street earlier this month.

The new feature near Warwick Castle comes after a public consultation at the end of 2025.

The hump will be built between the junctions with Warwick Castle Drive and Tudor Court and will see the existing 'pedestrian refuge' in the middle of the carriageway removed and replaced.

"Warwickshire County Council is proposing to introduce a full width road hump with an upgraded central refuge in West Street, Warwick," a council report said.

"The scheme is intended to improve the environment for all road users by restricting vehicle speeds and improving road safety, as well as providing a step-free informal crossing point at a natural desire line for pedestrians heading towards Warwick Castle."
