A focus on treating clients like family and making sure stylists are constantly learning new skills are the secret to success for a hair salon in Warwick which has been serving the local community for nearly 60 years.

Now based at Nuffield Wellbeing Centre, Hair Management is more than just a salon and aims to be a "haven where innovation meets tradition".

Stephen Morley opened his first salon in 1967 on Warwick's New Street, aged just 21, and has since run a hugely successful business with salons in Warwick, Leamington, Stratford and Kenilworth over the past six decades.

Having moved to a number of locations in Warwick over the years, and been running successfully at its current home since 2001, Stephen was very clear why Hair Management has remained popular for so long.

"We have continued to reinvent ourselves, and we still do," he told Nub News.

"We have always been education-led, our team is given lots of training to make sure we keep right up to date in the industry on techniques and products; education is a huge part of what we do.

"We have had a fantastic team all the way through, going back all those years, who have always put clients first.

"And we have some fantastic clients who have been very loyal to us and kept coming back for years and years."

Putting Clients First

Now managed by Susie Roberts - who first started at Hair Management as a receptionist - the salon has a very clear focus on making sure every client is made to feel welcome and valued.

As well as making sure every client leaves with a look which is uniquely theirs, the team will go above and beyond to make sure the whole visit is an experience.

"Everyone on the team genuinely cares about doing the best they can possibly do for their clients," Susie explained.

"You can get a good haircut anywhere, but at Hair Management it is about the whole experience from start to finish.

"It is about making sure the clients feel the best they can when they leave.

"It is not just a job for our team here."

Every client who visits Hair Management will be greeted by the welcoming team and offered a complimentary tea, coffee or even glass of wine.

Cakes and biscuits are also offered, and clients are treated to a free hand pamper tray while having a blow dry or their colour is developing.

One of the eight stylists at the salon will then take time to understand the client's lifestyle, preferences, and hair type, so they can craft a look that "complements you perfectly".

"Whether you're visiting for a regular cut or a complete transformation, we ensure the result is something you'll love," Susie explained.

"That's why we offer personalised consultations before any service.

"This is more than a job for our team, it is a vocation for them.

"They want to come in and give their best every day and that makes a huge difference.

"We get to know our clients personally, and make a real difference."

Tradition Meets Innovation

While Hair Management has been going for nearly 60 years, the salon is by no means stuck in its ways.

The team has a real emphasis on training, learning new techniques and adding to the already wide range of specialisms.

Susie explained: "We do ongoing training, constantly.

"The girls bring us ideas for things to learn about. We get people in to teach us new techniques and we send the stylists on courses as much as we can.

"Being education-led is another thing that makes us very different because our stylists are not just using the same techniques they learnt at college 20 years ago."

Going above and beyond your average salon, Hair Management has introduced a range of exclusive treatments to rejuvenate client's hair.

Whether it's deep conditioning, a scalp detox, or a volumizing treatment, the stylists have created a menu "that will give your hair the exact nourishment it needs".

"I would just encourage anyone who hasn't been here before, or anyone who is new to the area, to come and visit and try us.

"People will have a really enjoyable experience here."
