A self storage chain based in Heathcote has been given the green light to expand as it struggles to meet the rising demand in the market.

Titan Self Storage had previously been refused permission for a major extension at its Heathcote Industrial Estate site, which would have seen its floor space grow some 70 per cent.

But now Warwick District Council has signed off on an application for a more modest addition to the site.

Previously the company had applied for 2,663 sqm extra of floorspace, but has now been given planning permission to add another 2,182 sqm.

A council report said: "The proposed extensions are considered to improve the appearance of the existing building and would not have a detrimental impact on the leafy streetscape at the entrance of Hawkes Drive."

The extensions will be built on the first and second floors. The car park will also be reconfigured.

The company, which has 10 locations nationwide, said the new space would be used by commercial and domestic users. It also said many local landlords use the space.

The application explained: "The proposed self storage building has been designed to be both functional, aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with the character of the area.

"The exterior of the building will feature a sleek and modern design.

"The landscape design will incorporate lush greenery, including additional tree planting."
