A South Warwickshire pub damaged in a fire last year has been put on the market, months after the owners said it would not be reopening the venue.

The Crabmill in Preston Bagot has been closed since February 2022 when a kitchen fire saw the venue go up in flames - the site is still surrounded by hoardings.

Despite over 1,200 locals signing a petition to get the pub back open, owner Brunning and Price announced it would not be reopening the Warwick Road venue due to the huge costs involved.

And now the former cider mill is being marketed with property agent Savills - but the price is only available on application.

The listing on the Savills website says the pub is "subject to significant fire damage" but makes no other reference to the current state of the building.

The brochure says: "The Crabmill is a former cider mill which was converted to a public house in the 17th century.

"The property is of brick and timber framed construction beneath a series of clay tiled roofs.

"Attractive outside customer areas overlook the adjoining fields to the rear.

"When operational the property provided external seating for approximately 80 customers.

"A large car park is also provided for approximately 50 vehicles."

A Brunning and Price spokesperson told Nub News earlier this year: "Working with the insurers, planning consultants and designers we attempted to pull together suitable plans to reinstate the Crabmill.

"Due to current economic pressures, the cost of rebuilding has inflated significantly over recent months, and we feel that we could not now successfully replace what we had lost.

"This is not a decision that was taken lightly, the Crabmill was a much-loved pub to us as well as the local community.

"It was a 'heart' versus 'head' judgement and despite spending a lot of time considering all possible options, and having a genuine desire to rebuild the pub, we can't make it work.

"We are aware of the petition but we are afraid it will not change our decision."
