Warwick's Birmingham Road is set to be closed for a "considerable amount of time" after a lorry struck the railway bridge.

Warwickshire Police is asking motorists to stay away from the area, and says it will update locals on when the road opens again.

"Please be aware that a vehicle has struck a bridge on Warwick's Birmingham Road, near to the junction with St Michael's Road," a force statement said.

"Closures are in place while a structural assessment is undertaken.

"Please use an alternative route for the time being."
