Shut shop to become four-bed house share in Warwick

Council planners have given the go-ahead for a closed Warwick shop to be turned into a four-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO).
Plans for the former Black & White Stores building on Peel Road resurfaced earlier this year, after a previous scheme to turn the buildings into two flats was approved in 2019, but did not materialise.
Avisaar Ltd is behind the latest bid and applied to Warwick District Council for a single-storey extension at the back of the building as well as for the former shop front to be removed.
A new communal kitchen and living space is planned for the ground floor, as well as the four new bedrooms.
The application was approved by council planners this month.
Signing off on the scheme, a council report said: "In summary, the change of use is considered to be acceptable in principle.
"Subject to conditions and notes, the proposals by reason of its siting, scale, design and materials is considered be sympathetic to the host dwelling and street scene and is not considered to have an adverse impact in relation to residential amenity, ecology, parking, flooding and access or climate change and mitigation.
"It is therefore recommended that planning permission be granted on this basis."
Warwick Town Council had initially objected to the development, asking for clarity on the number of rooms involved.
"The proposed development represents a logical and sustainable reuse of the existing building, building upon an established planning permission," the application said.
