A mortar round from the Second World War has been detonated near Warwick.
Warwickshire Police was called to a farm near Walton where the 1940's British Army device had been discovered on Monday (December 1).
A 100 metre cordon was set up around the device and it was guarded overnight before it could be destroyed.
The three-inch round was exploded on site with help from army officials.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team covered the old round in sandbags that had been donated by National Highways before the PC who had guarded the device all night got to press the detonator.
"This happens a few times each year," Inspector Jamie Cramp said.
"Almost every time people are very sensible and they call us. But I'll always remember the time a man found an old hand grenade outside of the county, brought it home to Nuneaton by train and only then decided to call us.
"Goes without saying, if you spot anything that looks like it was designed to explode, give us a ring on 999 and we'll handle it."
