The number of council officials paid more than £100,000 per year has been revealed by the 15th annual Town Hall Rich List published this week.

At Warwickshire County Council there are 14 top executives each earning more than £100,000 per year.

Combined, they receive a total of £2,024,177.

The data supplied by The Taxpayers Alliance includes things like pension contributions, expenses and bonuses on top of salaries to work out the overall remuneration package.

The rich list also showed that at Warwick District Council three members of staff earned over £100,000.

The chief executive, and two deputy chief executives take home a combined total of £363,833.

Neighbours Stratford-on-Avon District Council also had three executives on £100,000 plus salaries - and it is not clear yet how this will be effected by the possible merger of the two councils.

Meanwhile one of their county-level colleagues also appeared in the top ten highest remunerated employees in the country by expenses received.

An unnamed assistant director of education services claimed £10,002 back from the council.

John O'Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: "Taxpayers facing a cost of living crisis want to know they are getting value for money from their local authority leadership.

"With households having suffered through the pandemic and now struggling under colossal tax bills, the country needs councils to prioritise key services without resorting to punishing tax hikes.

"These figures will allow residents to judge town hall bosses for themselves and hold their local councils to account."

Kenilworth Nub News has approached Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council for comment.
