New military museum set to open in Warwick this weekend
The Museum of the Queen's Royal Hussars is finally set to open in Warwick this bank holiday Friday.
Located in Trinity Mews on Priory Road, the museum was officially opened by HRH Princess Anne during a ceremony on Monday, April 4.
The museum takes the public through the history of Britain's senior armoured regiment from 1685 to the present day, including its connections to Winston Churchill and Prince Phillip.
The Queen's Own Hussars Museum was housed in Lord Leycester Hospital until its closure in 2016.
Members of the public will be able to visit for the first time on Friday, April 15 - entry for the day will be free and the Mayor of Warwick Cllr Richard Edgington will be in attendance.
Ahead of the public opening Brigadier Nick Smith, chairman of the Regimental Collection Trust, said: "We are delighted that we are able to welcome all who wish to join us for the public opening at 10am on Friday 15 April.
"The mayor will be present and it would be splendid to see members of the association there. Entry is free that day so any family or friends who come with you will also be free to enter.
"After all this time you might think everything has been tied off and put to bed but it has been surprising how frenetic the last few months have been and continue to be.
"There remains work to do, to complete all the detail we wish to include. This is despite realising last year that we had to draw a line and focus on completing what was planned."
