A planning application for 250 new homes in Hampton Magna has been submitted to Warwick District Council.

William Davis Ltd has put forward the scheme for fields on Old Budbrooke Road on the edge of the village.

If approved, the scheme would see the new estate built across 21.75 hectares of land.

"It is our contention that the proposed development represents sustainable development in respect of the delivery of much needed homes, including affordable homes, on an accessible and under-utilised site in close proximity to existing services and facilities," the application said.

Plans show a "retail facility", woodland play trail, community growing area and "destination" play area would be created.

The application also promises "existing viewlines" to St. Mary's Church will be kept and a "green corridor" will "frame the view through the development area".

The developer has not revealed what the mix of houses will be, but has said half will be designated as affordable homes.

It continued: "Development off Old Budbrooke Road would form a sustainable and logical complement to the existing village of Hampton Magna.

"It has been shown that the Site would form a natural rounding-off of the settlement, centralising facilities and amenities and improving the existing edge-of-settlement environment.

"New homes would be within easy walking distance of a range of services and amenities, including Warwick Parkway Station, accessible via numerous transport methods.

"Within the site, new community facilities and public open spaces will allow Hampton Magna to grow and evolve, meeting current local needs and supporting and retaining future generations within the community.

"Generous communal landscapes will improve access to a wide range of open spaces, offering safe, convenient, and active recreation opportunities for the whole community, the options for which will be explored through a collaborative and inclusive design process with the help of local consultation and engagement."

Taylor Wimpey has also put forward plans for 360 homes in Hampton Magna.
