Warwick's heroes: New exhibition at local museum honours 1st and 5th battalions

A recently opened exhibition in Warwick is giving locals a deeper look into the personal lives of those who served in the army.
'A Day in the Life of a Fusilier: A Personal Look at the British Army' opened last week at the Fusilier Museum in Warwick and will run until 20 June.
Admission is included in the museum's general ticket, which for adults is £5. Children under 16 can attend for free.
By using filmed interviews and real equipment used by current soldiers, the exhibition provides an insight into life in the modern British Army.
Personal journeys of soldiers from both the 1st and 5th Battalion are also used with a combination of imagery to show the daily realities of army life to help explain what makes the Fusiliers special.
Nub News spoke with the team at The Fusilier Museum to delve deeper into the curation of how the project came to be.
The team shared: "The Fusilier Museum Warwick's vision is to enable people locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally to gain a deeper understanding of the lives of individuals who served in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and its successor, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, through its 350-year history, to reveal the connections between past conflict and the world we live in today.
"One of the ways we achieve this is by presenting different aspects of the regiment's history and the British Army as a whole in temporary exhibitions. The focus of our museum is always to the stories of individual soldiers rather than official histories about battles and campaigns.
"We think this resonates more powerfully with people - to examine the experiences of individuals in extraordinary times."
The museum's next exhibition will be taking a deep dive into the experiences of soldiers in the First World War, in the Somme, 1916.
