The Range could be coming to Tachbrook Park Drive, a planning application approved by Warwick District Council (WDC) has revealed.

District planners have signed off on a scheme to combine two vacant shops at Leamington Shopping Park to create one large unit, which could house the retailer.

Real estate firm Abrdn has been granted permission for the project, which will also see the rear of the two empty shops turned into a garden centre.

The units, previously occupied by Argos and Outfit, will also have a new mezzanine floor built.

No details on when the works could start, nor when the shop would open have been announced.

"The new unit is proposed to be occupied by The Range home and garden store," the application submitted to WDC said.

It added: "Careful consideration has been developed to determine appropriate alterations to the building whilst also focusing on the existing topography, landscaping and neighbouring properties that are in close proximity to the site."

The application also included analysis of other retailers in Warwick, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth, saying the opening of The Range would not impact trade to other businesses.

Approving the application a WDC report said: "The proposals are not considered to harm the vitality and viability of the town centre.

"Furthermore the proposals would have an acceptable impact on the character and appearance of the area and on the operation of the service yard."

Nub News has approached The Range for comment.
