The new Aldi supermarket on Tachbrook Park Drive is set to open tomorrow (September 29).

Planning permission was granted for the larger shop last August, with the new store set to replace the chain's Queensway premises.

The supermarket giant was given permission to demolish the former Mothercare unit to build a contemporary, energy efficient shop which is 22 per cent bigger than the previous one.

Unlike other branches, it is timber clad.

The new shop will share a carpark with the neighbouring Currys store - there will be electric charging points.

Inside the store there will be a nuts and coffee refill station as the chain looks to include more packaging-free products.

Team GB hockey star and Olympic Gold Medallist Alexandra Danson and Paralympics GB's double Olympic Champion rower Lauren Rowles will officially open the supermarket tomorrow.

Aldi has already announced that it is looking for another site in Warwick as a priority location for a new shop.

The UK's fifth largest supermarket, which already has more than 960 stores across the UK is offering a 'finder's fee' to members of the public who recommend a site.
