£77,000 will be spent on roadworks needed in the construction of a new petrol station at Gaydon Service Station.

Planning permission was granted by Stratford District Council in September 2021 to knock down an existing petrol station and replace it with a new forecourt, canopy and car park.

And following a decision by Warwickshire County Council yesterday (September 28), minor road works that are needed for the scheme have been approved.

Funded by developer Euro Garages Limited, the £77,400 will be spent on minor kerb and footway alterations including moving existing public bins.

The scheme will be funded by the developer through a section 278 agreement with the council.

A WCC report said: "A planning application was submitted to Stratford upon Avon District Council by Euro Garages Limited in respect of the land occupying the Gaydon service station, Banbury Road, Gaydon.

"Planning permission was granted on the 24 September 2021 for the demolition of the existing petrol filling station and the erection of a replacement forecourt, canopy, pump islands underground tanks and associated carparking and landscaping.

"The s278 works will include minor kerb and footway alterations including relocation of an existing pedestrian refuge."

The Gaydon plans form part of £7.5million worth of developer-funded roadworks across five Warwickshire developments approved yesterday.
