Over 30 road closures announced for local Jubilee celebrations
Over 30 roads will be closed across Warwick district as residents celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Warwick District Council announced last month that streets could apply to be shut to host street parties across the bank holiday weekend.
There will also be much bigger celebrations in town's across the area with Warwick Town Council hosting a community event in Market Square on Thursday 2 June between 11am and 4pm.
Cllr Andrew Day, leader of WDC, said: "I'm delighted that our teams have pulled out all the stops to ensure that residents are able to celebrate this unique moment in history, coming together as a community after a difficult couple of years.
"I wish all those celebrating over the Bank Holiday weekend a wonderful time – I'm keeping my fingers crossed for blue skies and bright sunshine!"
In Warwick there will be four residential street closures across the weekend.
This will include:
- Wathen Road – from Lyttleton Road to Peel Road, (10am to 10pm on Friday 3)
- Blacklow Road – from Larch Grove to Almond Grove (12pm to 10pm on Sunday 5)
- Achilles Close – full closure (12pm to 3pm on Sunday 5)
- The Paddocks – full closure (11am to 4pm on on Sunday 5)
WDC also said it would like to thank partners including the legal services team at Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon District Council's, and CJ's Events Warwickshire Limited for providing signage and barriers to assist with the road closures.
