Warwick was the fifth-most visited station in the county last year, according to recent data.

A report published by Steer on behalf of Office of Road and Rail saw a huge jump in travellers across the UK, despite strikes impacting services across the nation.

The study analysed ticket sales during the 12 months between the start of April 2023 and the end of March 2023, and then compared this to the same dates a year earlier.

There were 40 per cent more journeys across the country, the study showed, with 1,385 million made.

According the report there were 481,684 entries and exits at Warwick Railway Station in 2022-23.

This compared to 403,526 the year before.

The list, which included 24 stations across Warwickshire, was topped by Leamington Spa with nearly 2.1 million entries and exits.

Only Rugby (1,913,342) came close to this.

Propping up the list was Polesworth in North Warwickshire, which was apparently only used 188 times.

Meanwhile in the south of the county, Bearly had the fewest visitors, at 1,380
