The team behind a new jewellers in Warwick say they have been "overwhelmed" by the support of the local community since opening for the first time at the start of the month.
Maddison's Jewellers welcomed customers for the first time on Thursday 1 February, in the site of the former Anderson's of Warwick shop in Market Place.
The new business is now owned by Joanne Maddison, who worked at the previous shop for some 13 years, starting as a Saturday girl in 2011 before working her way up to manager - a position she held for eight years.
Joanne had been looking after the shop whilst Pete Vandome (the previous owner) had been in semi-retirement.
Although, Joanne had loosely talked about the possibility of taking over in the future, it always "seemed like a distant dream", especially as Joanne only turned 30 last year.
But when Pete decided he would retire at the end of 2023 "it just seemed to all fall into place".
"Definitely nerves before we opened," Joanne told Nub News.
"Taking over such a well-established and loved business in Warwick - it is big boots to fill.
"This shop is now my baby and I am optimistic about seeing it grow and develop over the years."
Andersons closed at the start of January, with the new team at Maddison's then spending the next few weeks renovating the unit inside and out.
"I think it's fair to say that the shop was looking tired after the long eight weeks of Pete's retirement sale," she explained.
"However, for the last three weeks we have been closed for a refurb and restock.
"The shop has been given a refresh, new modern colour scheme and lots of feminine touches.
"The refurb has been a real team effort and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help from friends and family."
But it is not just the name and appearance that have changed.
Giftware is making a comeback at the shop - following repeated requests from customers - with a particular focus on christening and wedding gifts.
The shop will also stock top brands such as Hot Diamonds, Diamonfire, Clogau, Coeur De Lion, Radley London Watches and Citizen Watches.
And now the team have added new brands such as Dollie Jewellery, Ashes Jewellery, Angel Whisper and for the children a new range of WWF Tikker Watches.
The large selection of pre-loved jewellery has always been a unique selling point in the town for the business, something Joanna says she is "passionate about".
For the last year she has been gathering a huge collection of modern, vintage and antique jewellery from dealers and auctions.
Keeping products accessible has remained key though, with prices for unique silver jewellery starting from only £10.
And with the business now having been open for nearly two weeks, Maddison's has been blown away by the reaction of locals.
"I was very happy with the turnout for the opening day," Joanne said.
"It meant the world to me to see so many familiar faces (and new ones!) celebrating this special occasion.
"Their presence, kind words, and support during the opening truly made it unforgettable."
The team added: "Whilst we were closed, we had a few people knock the door to ask what and who was taking over the premises.
"The comments were always so warm and welcoming when we would say that Joanne had taken over the premises to start her own jewellers.
"The whole team has been overwhelmed by the support from local businesses - Warwick truly has a lovely community feel."
