Matt Western, MP for Warwick and Leamington, has expressed 'dismay' at the response from Warwickshire County Council's leader regarding his support following the JLR cyber-attack.

Jaguar Land Rover saw production at its plants cease due to a cyber breach.

As well as leaving its workforce in limbo, the knock-on effect is being felt by suppliers in Warwickshire and across the Midlands.

Mr Western expressed concerns over the leader of the council, Cllr George Finch's handling of the issue, whereby he stated: "Since the cyber-attack was first reported, it appears that the leader has taken no action himself to offer his support to the company, and those affected.

"Instead, he has delved into the depths of student politics."

Mr Western further expressed concern over Cllr Finch's social media activity, highlighting "he has not once mentioned the incident, or personally offered an ounce of support to those affected."

He said: "Rather, he has taken his time on Facebook and Twitter to post about flags (seven times), Tories defecting to Reform UK (four times) and calling sixth forms 'woke' (twice).

"Whilst Cllr Finch has been stuck on student politics, JLR has faced financial meltdown following a cyber-attack and a myriad of companies in its supply chain have been severely impacted by the fallout.

"I know that many people across the county expect more from their leader."

Mr Western has since written to Cllr Finch, one more time, to "clarify whether or not he has met with those affected, and if he would be willing to do so any time soon."
